Today was our seventh day of bonding, which means that we’re halfway through with the mandatory 14-day bonding period. It was a quiet day at the baby house. As it was Sunday, none of the administrative staff was there. We spent our bonding time in the small room today with just us and Symbat.
Symbat warmed up pretty quickly to us today. When Zema brought her into the room she gave Kara a smile, which was nice to see. It still amazes us looking at her that she started her life so small. She was very active again today, standing and crawling around, and she showed us that she can pull herself up onto furniture and surf without much of a problem. We’ll still need to work on her muscle development as she has bird legs, but the good news is that she’s using them.
It’s chilly and it rained last night, and the town is pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon. The little store across the street is closed as are several restaurants we saw, so we walked down to the Turkish restaurant for lunch with the Robey’s. The food was good, but none of the menus are in English and none of their waitresses speak English, so it’s a bit more challenging to order. They do have pizza though, and it’s pretty easy to just point and get what you want. We’ll post a food blog later.
Not much else to say today. Just a quiet afternoon in Taraz.
